    What is the total cost of the prenatal class, and does it include partner participation?

    You can find out more about our pricing structure here. Yes we strongly encourage birth partners to attend as well. If you are solo parenting that’s fine too!

  • Will I learn about hospital policies, common procedures, and how to advocate for my birth preferences?

    We aim to empower you with knowledge about hospital policies and procedures and instill confidence in stating your birth preferences as you approach your birthing experience.

    What We Cover:

    Hospital Policies and Common Procedures: We discuss standard hospital practices during labour and delivery, including initial assessments, monitoring methods, and possible interventions such as IV drips and episiotomies. Understanding these procedures helps you know what to expect and make informed decisions.

    Advocating for Your Birth Preferences: We guide you in creating a birth plan that reflects your desires, such as preferred birthing positions and pain management options. We also emphasize the importance of informed consent, ensuring you're aware of your rights and can communicate effectively with your healthcare team.

  • Do you provide unbiased information about all birth options, including coping techniques for both physiological and medicated births and pain management options for both?

    Yes, our childbirth education course offers practical coping techniques tailored for both physiological and medicated births. We provide evidence-based information on various pain relief options, including natural methods and medical interventions, to help you make informed decisions that align with your birth preferences.

    What We Cover:

    Pain Relief Options: We explore various pain management strategies, from natural techniques like relaxation, breathing exercises, massage and changes in position to medical interventions such as gas and air and epidurals. Understanding these options empowers you to choose the approach that best suits your needs.

    Coping Strategies for Unmedicated Births: Learn techniques such as deep breathing, visualization, and movement to manage labour pain without medication. These methods can enhance your comfort and confidence during childbirth.

    Understanding Medical Interventions: Gain insights into common procedures and interventions, including their benefits and potential risks, to make informed choices during labour.

  • What does the course include for postpartum recovery, newborn care, and infant feeding?

    We provide practical guidance and evidence-based information to help you prepare for the crucial first days and weeks by focusing on what to expect and how to navigate this special yet exhausting time with confidence.

    What we cover:

    The Fourth Trimester: the golden hour after the birth up to the first 12 weeks of your baby’s life. We talk about the golden hour/ skin to skin/ early breastfeeding. Early infant checks and newborn care - how to bathe your baby, how to change a nappy.

    Normal behaviour for babies around sleep, hunger cues, crying, nappy content.

    Emotional changes for mum, partner and baby the postpartum period can be an emotional rollercoaster and it is important to discuss expectations vs reality.

    Feeding your baby, with a special focus on breastfeeding, what to expect, how to prepare and how to prevent or cope with common breastfeeding challenges.  Whether you plan to breastfeed, combination feed, or are still exploring your options, we will ensure you feel informed and supported every step of the way.

  • Who teaches the course, and what are their certifications or credentials?

    Kate Ellwood

    Kate is a certified KG Hypnobirthing Teacher and Childbirth Educator with a Diploma of Antenatal Education, She specializes in antenatal education, offering hypnobirthing classes to help parents prepare for a calm and confident birth experience. Kate also runs Pregnant in Belgium, a comprehensive resource for navigating the Belgian healthcare system.

    Emily Gold

    Emily is a yoga therapist, birth doula, and public health specialist. She is committed to helping women feel safe, healthy, and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period.

    Jane Piot

    Jane is a birth doula and certified breastfeeding specialist.  She has accompanied more than 50 births and helps women to realise the unique power they have within themselves to birth their babies the way they choose to. As a breastfeeding counsellor Jane provides postnatal breastfeeding support through home visits.


  • What happens if I miss a class—are there makeup sessions or recorded materials?

    We understand that sometimes you may need to miss a class, and that’s okay! However, we highly recommend attending each session to get the most out of your childbirth education experience.

    You are welcome to attend sessions individually. It may be possible to accommodate a missed session of another course but this cannot be guaranteed.

    Please note our sessions are not recorded, so attending in person ensures you receive the full benefit of expert guidance and interactive learning.
